If you do intend to get a cross breed, then it is always a good idea to find out what breeds are involved in your cross breed. When you know the breeds, you can find out if there are any common health/genetic issues, determine if a social butterfly, or if the breed can be less tolerant to other dogs. You can also find out the behaviour quirks common to the breed, plus, satisfy your own curiosity!

There are multiple names for cross breeds, such as Mutts, Heinz 57, Mixed Breeds and so on. If you are thinking about getting another dog, perhaps consider one of these cuties. The shelters are often full of them and you would be giving a dog a good home.
A cross breed can be just as smart, trainable, intelligent, cute and loving as a pure bred. An another aspect, is that there is a good chance that your mutt may be rather unique, especially when given some of the crosses that one see's nowadays!
Here are some reasons as to why we think people should consider cross breeds.

Here are some reasons as to why we think people should consider cross breeds.
- You have an incredible variety to choose from.
Whether your looking for a dog with short coat that is easy to brush, or a curly haired breed, a breed with a long snout, or a breed with a short snout, and pricked ears, your sure to find what your looking for. Some of the crosses we have seen could only be described as ugly - however, ugly is so often so adorable, and yes, unique. - Easy to find. Normally the local shelters have a good variety of cross breeds, and the added bonus here is that you will be giving a shelter dog a good home, and helping the shelter in the process. You can even try breed rescue - most of them will take in cross breeds, as long as they look enough like the original breed.
- Cost. Buying a purebred pup is not cheap, and very often with good reason. A top breeder puts in a huge amount of work to ensure that his pups are the top of the pops. Unfortunately not all breeders are top notch! Adopting from a shelter will be a lot less money, and very often includes extras such as sterilization already been done and vacs as well. The money you part with is going back to a really good cause, which will enable them to keep on doing the tremendous work they do.
- Health. It is said that as there tends to be a lot less interbreeding (often found with the 'lesser' breeders), that cross breeds have, on average, less health problems than purebred dogs. Another aspect is that shelters will vaccinate as early as possible, while the 'lesser' breeders, do as little as they can get away with.
- Adaptable - Pure bred dogs are bred for specific purposes and this tends to be ingrained into their DNA. As cross breeds are not like this on average, they tend to go with our lifestyles easier, as long as you ensure that the mental, physical and social needs are being met.
