ADOPTION ONLINE CONSULTATION
Firstly, thank you for adopting, we just wish there were more of you in the world!
When we bring a new adolescent or adult dog into our home, we have, what is called 'The Honeymoon Period'. This is a period of approximately 3 weeks (but can be longer), where the new dog will either not exhibit any behaviour concerns it may have had previously, or if it does, they tend to be of a lower intensity and frequency.
If, during this Honeymoon Period, you put into place what you will, and will not accept, you are giving the dog clear guidelines, creating a solid communication between you, and the chances of the dog becoming a well loved, well behaved member of your family are greatly increased. Each and ever time a dog is returned to a shelter, additional stress is created and often other unacceptable behaviours will start, and the chances of a future successful rehoming diminish.

PUPPY STARTED SESSION
Working with an owner and watching a pup grow into a well balanced, well loved member of the family is such a rewarding experience.
Where a pup is concerned, the first 16-18 weeks of its life and a crucial part of development. This is when pup learns social skills, what is, and what is not acceptable - if you think about it, you are dealing with a blank slate - the Nature aspect has already occurred, and here you can really work on the Nurture aspect.
Please note this session does not take the place of a good puppy school, it is rather a 'cherry on top' session, which will give you all the skills you need to mould your pup into a well balanced member of your family.

- You are requested to complete a questionnaire. This is long, and a bit time consuming, however, it gives me a detailed understanding as to why the behaviour may have occurred in the first place. The questionnaire allows me to see if there may be any other behaviour concerns that could possibly develop - thereby nipping these in the bud, so to speak
- After I have received the questionnaire back, I will analyse it, perhaps ask you a few more questions, then we set up a time for our session. You are welcome to send me a What's App video of the actual behaviour.
- Our session will take place on either Zoom or Skype and be in the region of about an hour and a half, perhaps a bit longer.
- After our session, within 48 hours, I send you a detailed summary of the work to be undertaken. There is usually a variety of modifications to bring in, and having a summary at your fingertips to refer too, is a bonus.
- I check in with you once a week by What's App to see how you are progressing, and you are welcome to contact me at any time. You are not alone on this journey, you have me by your side to help and guide you. As each and every dog is different, this is a great option to have available.

What this session consists of
- You will be sent a Puppy Questionnaire to complete and return. This gives me more knowledge as to your daily interactions with the pup, and where we can correct anything that needs to be corrected. In all my sessions, I explain why we are doing certain exercises and what they are aimed at, on the basis of 'thinking dog', and you will learn to understand your pup much more.
- Once we start working, we will bring in all you need to start the journey to having a well behaved member of the family, and we will also discuss the importance of what to do if your puppy exhibits any fear behaviour.
- Our session will be in the region of approximately an hour and a half, and if you already have any behavioural concerns, these will be addressed as well.
- What will be addressed - Nipping, taking objects away from the pup, toilet training, feeding and feeding exercises, jumping up, polite greetings, sit and down, settle exercise, chewing, noise desensitization, handling and leave.
- After your session, you will be given comprehensive notes on all we have covered. We will cover a lot, and the notes will give you a point of reference to fall back on.
- I am available to you at any time over the next two weeks should you be experiencing any problems. Each and every dog is different, as are we humans, and if anything needs to be 'tweaked', we can work on it straight away.
