If you offer liver treats on a regular basis, and find that your dog is itchy, especially in paws, tummy, and face, your dog could have had an allergic reaction, or an intolerance to liver - not all owners are aware that a dog may have liver-related allergies. Our Allergy Test was developed to measure the highest level of accuracy, approximately 100 of the most commonly known allergens that your pet may be reacting to. An allergy test is non-invasive, takes a few seconds, and can be done in the comfort of your own homes.

Liver Bread Recipe
Liver bread is really one of the ‘kings’ of treats however, do use this sparingly and for either teaching a new exercise, or ‘gold star’ work, and also for when your dog has been a little nervous and has succeeded in overcoming fear.
You want to aim at giving as little you can to your dog - do cut into the cubes as in picture on the side, and very easy to break the cut cubes smaller with your fingers - liver is very rich and with all treats, they should be factored in as part of your dog's daily food allowance so balance of meals can be reduced accordingly - this should be borne in mind for all treats awarded.
EQUIPMENT
INGREDIENTS
Note - some people hate the smell of liver bread cooking (like me!) and we have found that the least offensive smelling liver is the chicken liver tubs from Woolies - does not seem to be as strong smelling and easy to work out the amount needed.

EQUIPMENT
- 2 x greased banana bread type tins (we prefer these as easy to cut into slices as in banana bread, however, you can also use a baking tray)
- Blender or food processor
INGREDIENTS
Note - some people hate the smell of liver bread cooking (like me!) and we have found that the least offensive smelling liver is the chicken liver tubs from Woolies - does not seem to be as strong smelling and easy to work out the amount needed.
- 2 x 250g liver (chicken, calves, ox or lamb can be used)
- 2 x over ripe bananas
- 2 x eggs
- 2 x cups of flour (whole wheat, while or smelt)
- touch of oil (between 1 t to 1 T)
METHOD
- Bake in a preheated oven 180 deg for about 30 minutes. You can use the same method as you do to check if a cake is ready by inserting a toothpick or similar - toothpick to come out dry.
- Place the liver in blender and liquidize.
- Next add the flour and blend until smooth
- Add in the oil and blend again
- Add bananas and eggs, again blend until smooth
- Pour into lightly greased cake pans
- When baked, leave in pans to cool and then turn out and allow to cool until no further heat.
- Cut into cake like slices, and then cut into cubes of the desired size.
- The cubes can be packed in individual plastic bags for the amount you need at each training session and frozen - this allows you to take out a packet at a time and allow to defrost
- Some dogs can have an intolerance or allergy with liver products.
- Do ensure you do not overfeed
- Any left over treats to be kept in the fridge as you would other perishables.
