•Always make training fun. Dogs pick up on our enthusiasm. Keep a special toy or treats for end of exercise.
•Always give verbal praise after giving a command.
•Always use a release command before moving your dog off the spot for physical praise.
•Always make sure your dog is hungry when your train him. Even if you don’t train with food.
•Always reward your dog for bringing you things. Even things he shouldn’t have.
•Always run away from your dog if he is running away from you.
•Always look for an alternative method if you are struggling with an exercise.
•Always make sure that you give each command once only and that you are in a position to enforce it.
•Never punish your dog for coming to you. Even if he just done something terrible like lunged at someone or run away.
