COAPE diplomat 2015, Confi puppy instructor 2014, Intro/ intermediate & advanced courses in early canine development through the University of Pretoria by Dr Quixi Sontag 2012, veterinary nutritional advisor (VNA) ongoing since 2011

Lure and reward, only positive reinforcement

Course Content Puppy 1
  • Handing : Examination : Grooming Information
  • Basic Obedience :Walking on a loose lead, sit, down, stay, leave, watch me, recall
  • Toilet Training Information
  • Management of basic behaviour concerns such as jumping  up, nipping, chewing, etc
  • Responsible pet ownership will also be addressed such as sterilisation, microchipping, deworming, vaccinations, tick and flea control and environmental enrichment. ​
  • Throughout the course the puppies have off lead and on lead interaction to teach them how to interact with other puppies of different breeds and sizes.
  • where possible they will also be introduced to agility.
  • Off-lead socialization

Duration of Course: 5 consecutive weeks, at the same time and venue. No training over Christmas and Easter

App Number of pups in class: 6-8 puppies

Age of pups in class: Younger than 20 weeks 2 weeks post their first vaccination

About Our School

Puppy Training and Socialisation Classes:
This is the first step in shaping a well behaved disciplined dog.

During the 5 week Puppy 1 course, the foundation obedience exercises such as sit, stay, walking on a loose lead, leave and down are taught using modern and positive training techniques.

Off lead free play is incorporated into each class to teach the puppies how to interact appropriately with other dogs and increase their sociability with other dogs. Each class includes information about the most common puppy behaviours that puppy parents experience such as biting, house training & jumping, just to name a few.

Other information topics including tips on car safety, puppy proofing and any questions you may have are also covered. We will end off each class with a basic agility course.

An important part of the classes is teaching you how your puppy thinks and learns, to empower you as the puppy parent to build up your puppies confidence and understand the needs and behaviours of your puppy. We will work at your puppies pace to make sure the classes are as FUN as possible for you and your puppy, so that you get the most out of each session.

In order to be eligible for this course your puppy needs to be 2 weeks post their first vaccination, be between 8 and 20 weeks old and up to date with deworming and tick and flea control treatments.

The Puppy 1 course is 5 weeks in duration and each class is 1 hour long. The cost of the course is R800 and classes run throughout the year (except for Easter and Christmas)
