Qualifications/Experience
I  have been running Furbabies Training School for the past four years now. I have completed a course in obedience class instruction with Shannon McKay of the McKaynine Training Centre, a course in basic dog behaviour through the Ethology
Academy, a course in clicker training through Animal Connections, a class in puppy training through ThinkingPets and am a TTouch Practitioner I for Companion Animals. I also regularly attend workshops and seminars and take online courses
(I am currently doing online courses with Susan Garrett) as well as doing extensive reading in order to be up to date on all the latest developments in the field.

Method of Training
Lure and reward with food and toys, clicker, TTouch

Course Content
  • A CD is given
  • Noise Desensitizing
  • Handling : Examination : Grooming Information
  • Basic Obedience : Sit, stand, down, leave it, sit pretty, roll over, stay, settle down, gate control, loose leash walking, heelwork, eye contact/focus, recall etc.  
  • Toilet Training Information
  • Management of basic behaviour concerns such as jumping up, nipping, chewing, etc
  • Off-lead socialization
  • All pups are examined on a table each week by one of the instructors or assistants to prepare them for grooming and vet experiences
  • TTouch is used in puppy and obedience classes, clicker is used in obedience classes. Puppy owners are welcome to train with clicker in our puppy classes if they want to and we will assist them with this. Clickers can also be obtained from us.
Training Days:
Puppy classes and beginner obedience classes on Sundays, more advanced classes on Saturdays and private lessons Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Training Times
Puppy classes: 11am to 12pm or 12pm to 1pm Sundays, depending on the month of starting.

Beginner obedience classes: 9am on Sundays (Saturday classes also sometimes available).
           
Duration of Course:  6 weeks

App Number of pups in class:  8-10

Age of pups in class: 8 to 18 weeks

About Our School 
Furbabies the focus is on training that is gentle and dog and owner-friendly. We want to help you enhance your bond with your dog and be able to communicate clearly with your dog what kind of behaviour you want from him/her without having to resort to shouting at and scaring your dog.
