General:
In addition to certification undertaken I attend canine related workshops and seminars on a regular basis. My passion is sharing education and information on dogs to all dog owners and to this end I have undertaken the following:-
Under the auspices of the ABC of SA™, I was instrumental in starting a free general newsletter to the general public, giving them further knowledge and a wealth of information on their pets. I have passed on that responsibility due to work pressures.
In order to share this knowledge I am a regular guest on the Udo Carelse (previously Leigh Bennie) slot on 702 radio and the Dog Behaviour Expert on Health 24. I have been a guest on the 93.6 Roxy Blow’s show. I offer regular workshops on different aspects of canine behavioural concerns to educate owners and have completed in-depth research with storm fear phobia in dogs. I was a guest expert on the reality SABC3 TV show ‘The Business Coach’. This viewed on 26th August 2012.
I am the founder of Friends of the Dog website which offers free advice to owners of dogs on all different aspects. This launched on 14th February 2011 and contains at this point in time, over 500 articles on all aspects dog, an Ask the Behaviourist, Vet Skin & Nutrition Advice, Recommended Puppy Schools, 2 e-books on Pups by Dr. Ian Dunbar and a host of other features. All of this is free to the dog owner or lover, to increase their knowledge.
The 2nd phase of our education plan for Friends of the Dog has now been implemented in order to help new owners with the integration of the new dog/pup into the new family and we are working with both shelters and individuals to achieve this.
We have further plans in place whereby we will be providing education and workshops for shelters to enable them to share this with new owners and our first workshop is starting in October with Wolfshaven. We will be working towards providing shelters with further knowledge to assist them to give each and every new owner at least an hour's practical lesson before taking the new addition home. The next step implementing puppy schools at shelters.
Throughout this process we will begin the process of implementing a rehabilitation program for dogs that need the additional help and will eventually have a rehabilitation centre.

General:
I work in the canine professional filed on a full time basis and have my own practice as a canine behaviourist, called Talking Dog. In addition to the above certification, I attend as many workshops and seminars as there are available to extend my knowledge and understanding on dogs.
Oscar, one of my own dogs is currently training at McKaynine Training Centre in Advanced Obedience and Agility. He has passed his obedience up to A-Test level and he has also passed his Bronze CGC. He is part of the McKaynine Demo team (obedience demo and agility demo). We ran a demo at the Waterfall Dog Walk last year as well as at the Kyalami Preparatory School and we are busy preparing for the demo to be held at the Royal Canin Dog Day at Avianto on 30 September 2012. He is registered with KUSA and whenever we get the chance we run in A1 at agility shows.
Cassy has also passed her Bronze CGC and has trained up to Novice Obedience level. I have worked her a little in agility and she is currently training in Fly Ball at the Doberman Club which she loves.
Charlie, who is featured on the latest CLAW poster was bottle fed from 3-weeks making him an insecure work in progress! We have gone through Puppy Socialising, Elementary Obedience, Bronze CGC, Beginner and Novice Obedience and he is currently doing his Silver CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and he is just 16-months old!
I won the Handler of the Year award at the McKaynine annual awards evening in November 2011.
I am in the process of doing a research article on bottle-fed pups with Julia Davies, another behaviourist.

General
I have opened my own training school (Petiquette Behaviour & Training) and in addition to Puppy and adult training, specialize in behaviour concerns. I still work part time in sales\retail.
While working part time I went on to study Dog and cat behavior through Ethology Academy and the Dogwise behavior and training course through ThinkingPets. I have also done a puppy instructors course with ThinkingPets and qualified to work as one of their confi-puppy instructors. I am now in the process of opening my puppy school. I have also done the Adult dog training workshop, first aid for pets and TTouch with ThinkingPets.
I attend workshops where I can with Thinking Pets as keeping updated on the latest in the dog and cat world is important in educating owners. I have written two articles for the Friends of the dog website and did an article on the Animal Ambulance for a small company magazine FMCG Retailer in the pet care section.
