ADOPTION EDUCATION SCHEME
The first 2-3 weeks when a dog goes to a new home is crucial. It is during this period that if the dog has any behaviour problems that they are likely to be surpressed or occur low frequency and intensity due to the dogs insecurity. This is also the ideal time for new owners to set in place House Rules, so that the dog knows exactly where it stands and what is, and is not allowed. This is the period that we are targeting and offering help to new owners over a 4 weeks period. We have put together some articles relating directly to shelter dogs that we thought may be of use to you.
Also have a look at our Recommended Puppy School and Recommended Dog Schools Section if you need in that aspect. If you feel you cant cope and need professional assistance, then we recommend you contact The Animal Behaviour Consultants of SA for an Accredited Canine Behaviour Consultant in your area (ABC of SA)
