Do you want a drugless alternative method of health care for your best friend?
Then look no further!! Many have found chiropractic helpful when it comes to
increasing energy, improving sports performance and even increasing resistance
to disease.
Chiropractic is a manual treatment used to correct neurological and musculoskeletal dysfunction and their subsequent effects on the body. The goals are to promote optimal function to help alleviate symptoms and improve performance, overall health and quality of life. The treatment is very gentle and well tolerated by people and animals. Animal chiropractic is a speciality offered only to veterinarians and human chiropractors. This speciality is only available in Europe and the USA. Please note that it is essential that the person treating your animals is certified and properly qualified. Animals are NOT people dressed up in furry costumes! Istudied at options for animals in the USA and is certified with the international veterinary chiropractic association (IVCA- an international regulatory council).
All animals receiving chiropractic treatment must be under concurrent care with a registered veterinarian and have the vet’s consent before beginning treatment.
CANINE CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT - RELIEF AND PREVENTION
I really recommend that all creatures with a spine (including their owners) be
checked before any problems occur. All animals should undergo regular spinal
evaluations within their first year, as this is the time when the animals frame and
spine grow the most. Ideally the younger the animal the easier it is to correct.
This is true prevention.
how does it work?
Chiropractic care is a non-invasive and cost effective way to maintain the
performance, agility and overall health of your pet. I work to
eliminate the source of the problem, which in turn will maximize your pets’
health naturally, without drugs or surgery, allowing your pet to reach their
maximum level of health.
Canine chiropractic care works with the nervous system to help the brain better
communicate with the body. This is done using chiropractic adjustments, which
specifically help to keep joints properly aligned. Better communication within
the body means better functioning of that body in all activities.
Chiropractic does not replace traditional forms of veterinary health care. It
works really well with it! When a joint is affected it looses motion and then
eventually proper position as well. The chiropractic adjustment restores motion
and alignment and therefore function and performance.
WHEN IS CHIROPRACTIC NEEDED?
. Some of the common signs and symptoms your dog may show ...
· Has difficulty getting up and down?
· Is tail swishing as in pain?
· Walks funny, even 3 legged?
· Has ear shyness (especially on one side)?
· Resents grooming in certain areas?
· Has neck restriction, especially to one side?
· Has excessive and frequent back soreness?
· Has uneven gait?
· Has lost power in the hind?
· Is always moody?
· Walks “funny”?
If you have noticed even ONE of these findings, then chiropractic care may be
needed for your canine.
What are the benefits of using chiropractic on my dog?
Using animal chiropractic, one of the safest forms of treatment available, we help
your dog achieve optimal health through:
· Restoring natural movement and function
· Reducing pain, muscle spasm
· Enabling your dog to perform at their optimum potential
…and all of this is done using a drug free and non invasive approach- giving you
quicker results and faster recuperation time.
What we do during an initial canine chiropractic treatment
During our initial chiropractic treatment, we…
· Assess complete range of motion in all joints
· Pinpoint which joints are at the root of the dogs problem.
· Chiropractic adjustments …invaluable in restoring physiological and psychological health.
Ongoing treatments
Several factors determine the number and frequency of adjustments required to
correct a problem:
· The dogs age and physical condition are important.
Young healthy dogs will generally require fewer adjustments than older dogs or those with serious health problems.
· The severity of the problem is another major factor if permanent damage has occurred, a return to full flexibility may not be possible and multiple adjustments may be necessary to achieve the most flexibility possible.
· The length of time that the problem has been present is also a factor.
Longstanding or chronic problems frequently require more adjustments to correct than do acute problems.
It should be stressed that chiropractic, in no way, should be thought of as a
replacement for conventional veterinary medicine, but rather as a valid,
concurrent, complimentary treatment procedure for many back and lameness
problems. And as with any health related problems or conditions that your
dog may experience, it is important that your veterinarian be contacted initially
so that he or she can assess your dog for any underlying medical condition that
could be causing similar symptoms.
